Chapter 20
In this chapter I mostly learned that over two centuries what kind of impact colonization had. Asia would soon have a lot of strain with some of the western countries because of the actions that the Europeans had. Actually something that I learned while reading this chapter that I thought was interesting was that because of the actions that were taken by the Europeans it resulted in the way that a lot of other countries are made up today. One part of this chapter is about the Great Depression and how the increase of unemployment was the outcome of a lot of banks closing, which was something that I have never thought of until reading this chapter. Also many of the colonies were impacted greatly in a negative way because in America they were harvesting a lot more goods then they were able to have purchased which was not a good thing obviously because it did not help the value of what was being exported to reduce in value. To free themselves from overseas attentiveness the military would conduct take overs to happen in South America. In order for the United States to escape the depression the were dependent on the new deal so that jobs would be given to people to work in the public projects. A new form of welfare was created called social security in hopes to help the increasing poor people population to decrease. Although the U.S's intentions were well the new deal did not help them escape from the Great Depression but it was World War 2 that did so. One thing that I found really interesting while reading this chapter was that racism started in Italy. Mussolini became in charge due to the help of non working and depressed veterans. Also around this time is when Hitler took over with his horrific rules and judgements against various different people but primarily the Jew's.
